Youth Pine Bark Class - Foraging Baskets
with The Wethersfield Academy for the Arts

Friday, August 16, 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Kids aged 9-16, join us on either Thursday, August 15, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM, or Friday, August 16, 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM to learn the traditional craft of making baskets from folded pine bark from a locally harvested American White Pine. Each
participant will create a unique Northeast Woodland Native American-style container by cutting, folding, shaping, and sewing the bark, and attaching a rim. Everyone will take home a distinctive container!
This youth class is $37 and all materials will be provided. Pine bark is sappy so please wear
clothes that can get dirty, and bring gloves that can get sappy!

This weekly program introduces young artists of all skill levels, ages 7-16, to a variety of fun topics and creative techniques in drawing, painting, and sculpture. Each week will focus on 2 specific classes and teach them Monday - Friday in both morning and afternoon sessions.
The Academy does not provide lunch or snacks, but students taking both morning and afternoon classes are welcome to stay for a supervised lunch hour.

Youth Drawing & Painting

Saturdays – 2 hour sessions: 9am - 11am or 11am - 1pm
Start anytime • 6-week session ongoing
Ages 7 & up
This ongoing and very popular course will teach young people the fundamentals of drawing, composition and painting, how to mix and apply paint, and the use of a variety of art materials. Students may bring a project of their own on which to work. The ultimate goal of the Youth Program is to create a work of art that is gratifying.
Class fee does not include materials.
