A Mid-week Arts Lecture Series

A Mid-week Arts Lecture Series will be taking place in Wethersfield at the Wethersfield Academy for the Arts. A unique group of local and regional artists and arts professionals have been invited to present the following:

  • March 7, 2012 Amy Xie
    - Chinese Motifs in Nature
Amy paints in the classical Chinese watercolor idiom with a keen observation of Chinese tales, symbolism and natural phenomena. Having studied from two famous artists in China, she has been painting for 28 years. Her subjects are found in nature, and her paintings are infused with meaning. She will explain her styles of realistic detail and quick sketching.

  • March 21, 2012 David Hoyle
    - Woodcut Printmaking: A Calculated Spontaneous Expression
David will discuss printmaking as an art form with an emphasis on the medium of woodcut and its unique expressive qualities. As it pertains to his own work, Hoyle will carve into the meaning of his prints and the effect that bicycle racing and the Futurism Movement, two of his greatest influences,  have had on his work.

Join us for these exciting lectures on Wednesday evenings
